ARTEFACTO
Artefacto is a speculative perfume house exploring how meaning and perceived value are constructed around scent. Each release begins with an artefact or historical reference and translates one of its mechanisms into fragrance, object, material and encounter.
The first collection is based on three mask traditions — Mycenaean, Roman and Noh — and explores three forms of presence: what remains after absence, what announces itself before arrival, and what changes through proximity.
For Artefacto, I developed the concept and visual direction, researched the mask references and luxury fragrance context, composed and tested the scent directions, designed the perfume object and installation, and directed collaborations across glass, ceramic and textile. I also developed and tested the gatekeeper model, edition structure and approach to acquisition and provenance.
The project sits between perfume and collectible design. Rather than treating fragrance as an isolated product, it asks how material, space, access and authorship can shape the way something invisible is perceived and valued.
Artefacto is not only about how a perfume smells, but about what has to happen around it for it to matter.
